Political Parties
Well it not so much a position, but I propose that we set up political parties. I propose a two party system as in America. MY proposal for party names are: Freedom and Liberty

Re: Political Parties
Okay. But why don't we get leaders for each party first, and have them decide what their respective party represents, and the name?

Re: Political Parties
I'll gladly be a leader for a party. Also are we just taking our own politics and applying them to the parties?

Re: Political Parties
Well you are creating the party, so give the party what ever political stance you want.
Re: Political Parties
Obviously make sure it's a stance that other FS members will follow. Maybe do some research into who has what political leanings, so you can attract the nations that you want into your party.

Re: Political Parties
Ah... Could you give an actuall description of the party because that is going to be the description I am going to post for when we get the parties set up. It is going to be what you will use to try to attract members, ones that may not know what "Democratic" or "Socialist" means.
Re: Political Parties
Oh, alright haha.
Well here we go:
Hello fellow Free Society compatriots. I am Ryan, the leader of the nation of Meadowdale as well is this party, The Democratic Socialists' Party. We stand for freedom, civil rights, political freedoms, the spread of knowledge, and most importantly equal opportunity for all. It is our opinion that the best way to accomplish these goals is through democracy, allowing everyone to exercise their right to an opinion, and socialism. Socialism is a socio-economic structure that is a hybrid between capitalism and communism. It represents the best of both worlds in this way. It avoids the greed that capitalism is inherently based on by giving everyone a relatively equal playing field. However, it does not, like communism, keep people from working hard by giving the same thing as everyone else. No, you see, what we do is give a base line and a cap for the money one can make, by spreading money around, but still allowing for individual salaries based on one's profession. We welcome anyone in possession of reasonable intelligence and dedication to the cause.

Re: Political Parties
I support a party system, hopefully to diversify to three or more parties once we get more members.
As of now, I will retain neutrality.
Good Luck to those in charge!

Re: Political Parties
Hello my fellow Free Societians,
My name is Jason, President of the people of Unholy Tendencies, or Unholians, as they prefer to be called. I am here today to formally announce the creation of a new political party under the great nation of Free Society: the Post-Partisans. We are a solution-focused coalition, collaborating towards a common good. Opposing ideas are a good thing. They are the basis for thought-provoking debate. However, strongly divided political parties, in time, create a plethora of stalemated situations during important policy-forming sessions. The Post-Partisan Party is founded on the logical notion that a willingness to work together for the common good will have the greatest impact in the growth of our nation.
“Post-partisanship means involving all sides early in contemplating problems to complex policy issues - taking dialogue seriously and driving to the best solution that has maximum feasibility and impact,” according to innovation researcher Neil Seeman.
These are a few of the key principles we stand by:
1. Relationships are as important as convictions.
2. Criticism needs to be well-balanced by self-criticism.
3. There must be an overriding commitment to dialogue and deliberation.
4. There must be an overriding commitment to diversity of opinions and perspectives.
5. Compromise is not the only endgame.
6. Be simultaneously creative and practical.
7. Demonstrate a penchant for big ideas.
8. Support a bias for action.
9. Demonstrate concern with values and principles.
10. Have a long-term vision.
Make the logical choice. Make the right choice. Become a Post-Partisan and help Free Society rise to the status of a truly great and free nation.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Post-Partisan Leader Jason

Re: Political Parties
Ok we have set up the parties. I have closed applications for political parties. Paristafian People (Sorry if I spelled your name wrong) whenever you post the detials for your party I will add them to the registration page.
Re: Political Parties
If we are going to have what seems to be now 3 organized parties, plus independents, how is that little thing you posted about having the majority party member in Congress be HOC?

Well, if too many people become Independents, I might abolish it.

Well that's not reasonable...

Re: Political Parties
Well, what do you think I should do? (In case anyone missunderstood what I said, I meant abolish the Independents, not the parties.)
Re: Political Parties
Let the people have their parties. If a lot of people choose to be independents, so be it. That's their call.
