Post  Lower Land on Fri Aug 21, 2009 5:24 pm

There has been contriversy on my latest repeal of the law making it mandatory to register in the forum. This poll will go on for a week.

But to counter this a political party system has made me and others angry. It should be disposed of.

Agreed, the MANDATORY political party system should be repealed.
Parties don't exist to be mandatory. Parties exist to mobilize a segment of the population with a number of shared beliefs. I say, we allow however many and whatever parties.

I don't think it should be mandatory to join the forums, encouraged yes, but not mandatory, I have no idea what you're thinking with the political party thing, just set consider everyone as independent unless they choose to join a party, again you can encourage it but don't go forcing anything on people

For membership to the forum:

I voted yes becausewe will have 2 levels of members: one whos deailing with object on the forum (cartography; elections; etc.) and tohers. What is the benefit for a nation to be in Free Spciety region if this nation only answers to issues from Nationstates and voting to WA? In this case, I had never leave the region the game provided me. No?

Political party:

I don't think nations can be a part of political party. a nation is a sovereing entity and cannot be a part of political party. That's why I created a coalition. Nations can be associated for a single point. Maybe party is possible too (i.e. socialist nation). By default, everybody must be considered as indepentant. If they want to joi a colation, a party, it is their choice.

Well I agree with you, but it really isn't.

A free society is, but not so much for the other two. Democracy is simply giving the people a voice, while socialism is an economic system...

Peecekeeper, when you say
"you shouldnt force people to join somkething that is not their choice. isn't that what a free society , socialism and democracy is all about?"

I agree with you. Nobody is forcing players of NationStates to join the Free Society. We only invite them to join.

Look, you are member of the forum, you were candidate to the Congress, you voted and posted message from time to time. If you are not member, what is the benefit for you to be in FS? What is the difference in this case to be in xyz region? What will you know about names who changes on the page of the region (WA Delegate, HOC, etc). Nothing.

I know, it can be great to see our region being Xth most big region, but what is the difference for me if in fact 10-20 nations are really partners of the region life?

I think FS is a region for people who wants more, who wants to make their nations an active members of the region they have choose.

Peecekeeper,
there is a big difference between no be member of the forum at all and being a member with low activity.
As member, you can vote when amjor events happens (like election we had for president and you were there).

Not all members post again and again, and it'is ok. But, you are a member of the forum, ou particiapte from time to time and what can I ask more? It's fine.
