2009-07-26 - For regional distribution
After a long debate, the National Congress of the Republic has voted late yesterday evening regarding the excavation of gold in Midpoint Lake.
With the agreement of 76 of the 103 Congressmen, it was decided to suggest the creation of a corporation owned by the 3 nations.
The President has submitted the suggestions to the other nations and Batiska is waiting for their answers.
Some Congressmen disagreed with the resolution, based on the fact that the lake is mostly into Batiska’s jurisdiction.
Few ecology groups have also indicated their opposition to the project.

The Secretary of National Congress of the Republc sent a correction to the official annoucment of the vote done by the Congress last evening. It is not 76, but 56 of the 103 congressmen who adopted the resolution.
The Secretary send is apology for any inconveniance regarding this wrong information.

Green Batiska is calling for a meeting

This afternoon, the leader of Green Batiska, the most important and active ecology movment in Batiska (around 8,000 members registered) has called members and all batiskan who is owner of a non-motored boat to joined them on Midpoint Lake tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
He invited people to not going at their job and going on the lake to sing, feeding fish, birds and ducks.
Other small politics groups have invited people on the lake tomorrow to show the Batiskan juridiction on the lake.
The minister of Civil Security has already ask to the Republican Police to being prepared to manage large crowd moving around and on the lake.
