Colonization/Vassal States
As new maps come out can we colonize certain areas or perhaps hold vassal states there?

Re: Colonization/Vassal States
I think that's an excellent idea. I believe there is enough land in Free Society for those of us that wish to make dummy nations for colonies/etc could probably do it and if we needed more land for new societies, I don't see there being an issue with extending the waters of the ocean around Licentia and just making more landmasses. It's ultimately up to Lower Land though. I feel that if your nation has fewer than 2-5 billion people, colonization of another country would tax your home nation's economy and resources far too much for it to be plausible and if it is decided that we can do it, we should make the rest of Free Society aware of which nations are dummy nations and go from the population point of the home nation (if that makes sense). I support this wholeheartedly, but it's not up to me obviously. Qhat say you, Lower Land?

I don't think anyone has 2-5 billion people yet... That's quite a lot. Perhaps more like 750 million?

Re: Colonization/Vassal States
well, I was going for RL numbers, but I'm kinda in an altered state of consciousness so I might have proposed a liiiiiiiiiittle high (I feel like I made a joke just now) 750 sounds totally reasonable for NS though cause you're right, it does take HELLA days for your population to go up
Re: Colonization/Vassal States
Yeah, it's more than the US has currently, and I'm pretty sure we could take a big ol' steaming COLONIZATION SHIT on a decent amount of the East.

You made my lol escape IRL haha
Re: Colonization/Vassal States
I just had a thought. Perhaps your nation's regional influence would affect colonization? For example, my population is only 50 million and I have a regional influence of Contender. However, you have somehow like Rat Racecar (no offense meant here, just giving examples) who has a population of 99 million, nearly double mine, while his regional influence is Negotiator, which is one step below mine.
Here is a list of NationStates regional influence in order from most to least. http://safalra.com/other/nationstates/influence/
Perhaps we could use a rule like everyone from Enforcer up would be allowed to colonize other nations, regardless of population?

Hmm....sounds interesting, but perhaps we should make it higher than enforcer, you know, so that it's like an elite privledge to control a colony.

Well maybe Powerbroker? It'd be top 5, since hermit isn't actually number 1.

Why does that list say Hermit then?
And yeah, top 5 sounds good.

It's for when your region is lacking the latest UN update or something, and you default to that.

Certainly sounds good to me. Much easier to regulate as well.

Yeah. Because if we have three people that are only one step away from the qualifications and they're only at approx. 120 million, then 750 mil. is a bit ridiculous.

So Aidsnoat, I noticed you're a Powerbroker. Should we start the colonization now?

Re: Colonization/Vassal States
What if your dummy/secondary nation has nothing to do with your first/primary? The nation I'm planning on as my secondary has no ties whatsoever to my first nation. I would feel a little traitorous in making a nation and not being in Free Society, but what say you fellows?
Re: Colonization/Vassal States
If you want your nation to stay separate, more power to you. Do what you want.
Also, what's the deal with colonization?

What do you feel would be best? I'm kinda thinking about reshaping current borders to reflect the region's present state of affairs, as far as membership and activity goes.
