Haightstock Military Help

So uh, can anybody help me organize Haightstock's military? Military knowledge isn't exactly my field and since Haightstock is a liberal nation of nearfuture-tech stoners with the occasional mage thrown in, I don't even know where to start.

Start with these questions:
Do you have compulsory military service (your nation's page will say if you do)?
How large is your population?
Do you as a ruler feel the need for a large Army,Navy and/or Airforce?
